About Rosa
Rosa arrives with curls and a good deal of energy. She is 160 cm and curvy, her chestnut brown hair long and genuinely curly rather than styled that way, and her brown eyes do most of her talking before she starts. She dresses warm and simple for Datchet, where the wind comes off the water and the walk from the station is short but rarely sheltered.
Mid twenties, English, animated and funny. She has no interest at all in being mysterious. She asks blunt questions and answers them the same way, and she is very quick to find the ridiculous in a situation. She likes village pubs, dogs belonging to other people, and cold evenings with a fire in them. Ten minutes in and the conversation is usually well past the introductions. She is generous with her attention and entirely without any sort of front.
Most of her evenings here go to The Royal Stag on the Green, which has stood beside the churchyard longer than anybody can properly date and does not trouble itself with anything modern. It is three minutes from Datchet station and one stop from Windsor and Eton Riverside, so you can spend a whole night in the village or borrow Windsor for an hour. She lives in Marylebone and comes out on the Waterloo line, about an hour, and she reads the whole way.
The whole village, and how little of it there is, sits on the Datchet page. £250 for an hour and the rest on rates. booking gets an answer back quickly.

An evening with Rosa
The Green is the whole evening and it is smaller than a London square. Rosa meets you there, and if the light holds she will walk you down to the river first, which takes ten minutes and gets you past the best houses in the village. Then the pub, low ceilings and a fire going most of the year, and a long sit down with no music loud enough to interrupt anything. She talks a lot and listens properly, and she is very good at getting a quiet guest going. Afterwards it is three minutes back to the station or five to the hotel, and either way nobody has looked at a map. That is the appeal of this village, and she uses it well.
Rosa, three questions
01Why Datchet of all places?
Because it is the river without the crowd. Windsor is five minutes up the line and might as well be a different county on a Saturday.
02Is there much to do?
No, and that is the point. A green, a church, two pubs and a lot of water. If you want more, we take the train.
03Cold night or warm night?
Cold. Give me a fire and a dark walk down to the water and I will take that over a summer beer garden every time.
