About Stacy
Stacy stands 176 cm and she does not stoop, which means she is generally the first person you see in a crowded lobby. Slim build, long near-black brown hair worn loose, brown eyes. She dresses to look like a guest rather than an event: a simple dark dress, a long coat, and shoes that survive the walk from a taxi to a revolving door in weather.
Early twenties, English, and steadier than her age suggests. She listens more than she talks for the first half hour and then turns out to have been forming opinions the whole time. She likes airports, which is an unusual thing to admit, and she means the strangeness of them rather than the shops. She is unhurried, easy to be around, and entirely without the brittle energy that a late night sometimes produces. She has no interest in filling an hour with chatter that neither of you will remember afterwards.
She works the Bath Road hotels and most often the long one towards the Hayes end, a large, dependable building five minutes from Terminals 2 and 3 with a bar that keeps going when the rest of the road has given up. That matters here more than decor does. Her flat is in Chelsea and the Piccadilly line handles the trip in about forty five minutes, so every airport evening carries a three hour floor that includes the journey.
The Heathrow page sets out the Bath Road hotels and the walk from each terminal. From £250 for an hour, with the minimum explained on rates. Terminal and time to booking.

An evening with Stacy
The Bath Road at midnight is its own small country and Stacy treats it that way. She will meet you in the bar, which here is large enough that nobody is looking at anybody, and the first drink goes on unwinding whatever the last twelve hours did to you. She is not in a hurry and she does not expect you to be entertaining. If you want food there is a kitchen going late in the building and she knows what is actually worth ordering from it. After that the evening is quiet and private, and she is good at reading whether you want to talk or simply not be alone. She leaves by her own car, and she has never once had to be reminded of the time.
Stacy, three questions
01Does a three in the morning arrival bother you?
No. This is the one place where that is a normal hour, and the road outside is busier then than half of Berkshire at noon.
02Terminals 2 and 3 or Terminal 5?
Two and three for the Bath Road hotels, and five if you want a walkway. Five minutes either way by car.
03What do you like about airports?
That everyone in them is between two lives. People talk differently in a place they are only passing through.
